UK Athletic Budget Revealed for 1973 74 Season

The budget shows all sports receiving at least small increases with football and basketball leading. Football gains include 60000, 90000 in tuition grants, 5000 for equipment, 10000 for recruiting, and 15000 miscellaneous. Basketball recruiting is 20000 next year. Maryland and other schools cited for past recruiting figures. The University earns 12000 from Robins Center sellouts with 1000 for expenses. football gate estimates are 186675 while expenses reach 145670 excluding grants in aid. Wrestling is a new addition. rifle funds come mainly from the University and Army subsidies.

University of Richmond Faculty Retreat Sets Democratic Session

The University of Richmond will hold a Wednesday and Thursday faculty retreat at the Sheraton Motor Inn in Fredericksburg to define goals for the academic program. Provost Charles E. B. Glassick says the process will be democratic with faculty and five students voting on topics including the university’s character and the student role in society.

Lassiter Miss Williams Appointed Editors For 1973 74 Publications

Jay Lassiter a Richmond College junior is editor in chief of the Contnatan and Del ane Williams a Westhampton College sophomore is editor of the Web for 1973 74 Cannon staff appointments announced by the Board of Publications include Tom Hurst news editor Ken Luor editorial editor Jack Wilberger managing editor Bill Hall sports editor and Linda Mc Keel business manager. The 73 74 Southoran will focus more on editorials and features as Lassiter says The newspaper will be distributed on Thursday and stay near 10 pages The staff will also improve out of town mailing for subscribers Miss Williams says the Web staff will be enthusiastic and hard working and that organization will improve with this coming year The staff aims to create a Web completely different from last year’s yearbooks.

University of Richmond unfolds multi million construction program

The University of Richmond outlined a 50 million development plan with 14 million in cash and pledges to fund renovations and new buildings. Projects include 400000 Thomas Hall overhaul, 1400000 North Court redesign, 3500000 tennis courts, 175000 track, and a 3500000 Threefold library expansion to 100000 extra square feet and seating for 1100.
