Virginia Highway Official to Address Richmond College Students

Henry G. Shirley Virginia highway commissioner will speak at Richmond College during the regular 12:90 assembly period on May 20 in Cannon Memorial Chapel. He will discuss the highway department organization powers and duties and is noted for advancing Virginia highway development. A May banquet in the college refectory will end Social Science Society activities. Governor George C. Peery is slated to speak at convocation on April 24.

Co.ord Debaters Top Bucknell in Friday Night Debate

Westhampton College teams led by Ruth Stephenson and Allie Martin defeated Bucknell in a varsity debate on the motion that Congress could override Supreme Court decisions. Judge Garland Hopringa noted the ruling relied on decency tools but could be improved. Bucknell’s coach Lybanger and wife attended with the team. Alice Turner presided and Virginia Kirk served as timekeeper. The William and Mary debate, set for Saturday, was postponed until after Easter.

Westhampton College Junior Class to Present Ah Men Here Comes Carmen

Under Susan Bonnet the Westhampton College Junior Class will stage Ah Men Here Comes Carmen at University Playhouse on Monday April 17. Tickets are 26 cents for the benefit of the organ fund with Barbette Stephenson as Carmen and Kitty Broyles as Don Jose.
