Six firemen hospitalized after Richardson training blast
Six of sixteen Richardson Fire Department trainees remained in Presbyterian Hospital after an explosion at the training field. Fire Marshal M L Todd said injuries were about ten percent of body, with Fire Department instructor Coker most severely burned. Cause cited as late torching fumes building up inside a brick house during a simulated blaze using hay, diesel, and gasoline.

Richardson Centennial aims to engage all citizens next summer

Local cyclist killed in Cash in head on collision
William Steven Ray 18 of 1133 Pacific died Saturday in Cash when his motorcycle collided head on with a northbound automobile on Texas Highway 34. A passenger in the passing car was only minorly injured. Ray’s death came minutes before his brother Randy Ray was hospitalized with burns after an explosion at the Richardson Fire Department Training Field Saturday.

Wallis Dies at 87 in Richardson Texas
Wallis 87 of 800 Custer Road Richardson died early Monday. Born in Lawrence County Arkansas, he came to Richardson at age four. He worked on farms, served as assistant postmaster, and was the oldest member of First United Methodist Church Richardson. Survived by wife Lily Huffhines Wallis, son Paul R. Wallis, two daughters, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild, four brothers and four sisters. Services 4 pm today at Restland Memorial Chapel, interment Restland.
