Dallas weighs a city county crime lab with a $1 million facility on Parkland grounds and a $300000 yearly cost. The plan, backed by County Commissioner Crowley, aims to form a regional lab with city and county oversight, while debates over autopsy authority and city participation continue.
The Richardson Jaycees announce the Carolyn Deuback Scholarship Fund in memory of Carolyn Deuback Lamb Miss Richardson 1963 who died 1966. The fund guarantees 600 dollars first year with further donations from Optimist Club and others. A June 8 pageant at Richardson High School will raise proceeds and prize amounts include 250 to first runner up and 100 to second runner up plus 100 to Miss Congeniality.
Noel Coward comedy Blithe Spirit returns for three performances at Theatre-Off-Main presented by Richardson Community Theatre. Edmond DeLatte directs Lynee Waddell and Sheila Smith as Elvira and Ruth Condamine with Keith Nichols as Charles. Cast includes Charlotte Stanton as Madame Arcati and Jerry Rossing assisting. Reservations via DI 8-3842 or AD 5-9254.
Memorial services were held at LaMoore Naval Air Station California for Lt. (j.g.) Arthur Wayne Steacker USN a former Richardson resident killed in a mid air collision over Dinuba California. He was an RHS graduate 1962 USNA 1966 and joined flight training at Pensacola. Steacker will be burned at sea aboard USS Hancock Friday after training and service details.
Fred Davidson, 1967 Richardson High School graduate, son of Mr and Mrs Joe Davidson of 8405 Birchcroft, has been notified of an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. A New Mexico Military Institute student this year, he excelled in baseball and football with a B average. Davidson led in scholastic achievement at AHS with a 90.28 average, ranking 79th of 680, and held National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society membership. He was 1967 class president and Eagle of the Month, with varsity letters in four sports and co captain of the 66-67 Eagles. He will visit Dallas area before reporting to the Academy in late June.
Richardson residents have purchased nearly 1000 season swim tags at City Hall to use all summer at Cottonwood Terrace and Arapaho pools. Tags cost 6 dollars and require city taxpaying residents. Unused ages and hours listed for each pool with seasonal operation through Labor Day.
J. J. Pearce, longtime superintendent of the Richardson Independent School District, will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws from Howard Payne College in Brownwood during tonight's commencement. He leads civic groups including the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and serves on regional boards for social and welfare organizations. Pearce is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Richardson and holds degrees from Baylor and SMU.
State Senator Ralph Hall of Rockwall will serve as Governor for a Day on June 3 1968 after Governor Connally calls a special session set to begin June 4 Hall who has chaired the 60th Legislature and represents the 9th District is third in line to the governorship and will preside from 9 a.m. in the governor's office with proclamations recognitions and a reception for 9th District residents followed by honorary Texas Ranger and rangerette certificates for youth attendees
The Richardson Chapter of Texas Tech Exes schedules a free fish fry at Little Ridge Park Lake Lavon this Saturday. The event starts at 2 p.m. with fish served at 5 30 p.m. Reservations requested. call Mrs Pat Settle at AD 52745 for more information.
