Richardson Chamber Board approves resolutions and new members
The Richardson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors adopted several resolutions at the May meeting. They commended Jack Vaughan for his service and noted his promotion to a Texas Power & Light post in Ware. A resolution honored President J. J. Pearce for receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws from Howard Payne College. Additional resolutions urged fiscal restraint in federal spending and backed a Government Program Evaluation Commission bill. Richardson's Southwest Center for Advanced Studies receives three new grants. NASA funds a seventh supplement to a 1962 award for Multidisciplinary Research in Space-Related Science and Technology totaling 303000 dollars. A second NASA supplement of 109310 dollars supports Research on Mechanism and Rates of Atmospheric Mixing in the Lower Thermosphere. NSF funds 80000 dollars to explore neutral, collision induced recombination in upper atmosphere ions and electrons with Drs Collins and Hart as co-investigators. Funding begins June 1 for about one year.

Richardson High student charged in marijuana possession raid
Terence Butler Vidovic, 17, a Richardson High School student, faced an illegal possession charge after Dallas County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Narcotics Bureau raided a Northwood Hills apartment at 14220 Haymeadow Drive. An 18-year-old arrested in the raid was released without charge. other youths were taken to the Dallas County Juvenile Home for disposition by juvenile authorities.
