UTD honors first two degree winners at convocation
The University of Texas at Dallas named its first degree recipients Dr. Rhett Burton for a Ph.D. in Physics and Scott Reeve for an M.S. in Geosciences. Also honored were Dr. Francis S. Johnson for the Arctowski medal and acting president duties, Dr. Anton L. Hales for academic affairs service, and Prof. John Jagger as editor in chief of Photochemistry and Photobiology through 1975. Six student awards were announced and Cecil H. Green and Texas Instruments addressed the convocation on environmental science and interdisciplinary training.

The Richardson City Plan Commission will hold an informal closed study session tonight at 8 00 to prep for zoning matters due May 25 and June A major agenda item is Vantage Properties 181 acre Corporate Square plan along Plano Road seeking industrial commercial and office zoning with a companion veterinary clinic permit at 410 Canyon Creek Shopping Village A slate of RA1100M townhouse and R1500M single family rezoning requests are scheduled for hearings on Audelia Road Campbell Road Custer Parkway and nearby parcels with council meetings postponed for Mayors Conference in San Antonio and key votes set for May 22 May 29 and June 1 on various residential and commercial zones.

Mrs. Florence Puffer Final Rites Held in Richardson Area
Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Puffer, former Richardson resident, set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel. She died Wednesday while residing at Big Town Nursing Home in Mesquite. Interment planned in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Survived by daughter Shirley P. Peavey of Richardson, three grandchildren Barbara, Richard and Carolyn, and sisters William Assel of Bridgeport and Marguerite MacShessray. Memorials to Richardson General Hospital.

Texas Court upholds Hunter marijuana conviction in Richardson
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirms the conviction and 10 year sentence for Don Hunter for sale of marijuana in Richardson. An undercover officer testified Hunter sold two lids of marijuana for 30 dollars on March 24, 1970. Hunter argued marijuana not a narcotic under state law.
