Motorcycle theft noted in Richardson police report
Richardson police investigated three burglaries two thefts and a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle Monday. A 1971 Honda motorcycle valued at 200 was stolen from Glen Blankenship's home. An aluminum billet valued at 237 was stolen from Republic Aluminum Co. A car at 312 Brentwood lost 25 stereo tapes and two headphones valued at 120. A Dallas woman reported four hubcaps valued at 75 stolen from her car at Collins Radio. A construction shack at 1513 Plano Road was entered but nothing taken.

School bands take top honors at Six Flags Festival
Lake Highlands Junior High symphonic band directed by Carroll Cantrell won best in its class at the Six Flags Band Festival in Arlington. The 77 member group earned a I rating as the only junior high band, while Richardson Junior High was runner up with a I rating. Fifty six bands from Texas and Kentucky attended the three day event ending Saturday with judges Dr Mark Hindsley, William Rhoades, and James Jorgenson evaluating interpretation, technique and musical sound.

Grant funds aid Region X in Title III programs
Education Service Center Region X in Richardson will receive 222000 of a 41 million Title III grant shared among 38 centers. Ray Hardison says funds support career education pilot programs, staff development, school accountability, and efficient use of funds. It will finance classroom material evaluation and experimentation, learning programs for exceptional children, and Piaget-based methods adapted for handicapped students.

Youth orchestra to play concert in Eastfield College Auditorium
The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra presents its first annual public concert Saturday at 7 30 p.m. at Eastfield College Auditorium. Conductor is Yves L Helgoual ch of the Irving Symphony and St Mark's School of Texas. The nonprofit supports a scholarship fund to prevent financial need from excluding talented musicians. Admission is free. Program includes Schubert Stravinsky Gluck Bach and Morton Gould.
