RHS Seniors present Teahouse of August Moon with leading roles by Mark Arman Rick Ferguson Chris Willis and Kathy Vogt plus Louise Suttle in a two night run at 1250 Belt Line Road auditorium Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are at Sun Rexall Drug Sarah McDonald Fabrics Cal-Rich Shopping Center or from RHS seniors. Richardson Chapter Showcases At NorthPark Travel Booths
The Richardson chapter of the American Field Service joins 12 Dallas area groups with two booths at NorthPark Shopping Center for the Dallas Morning News Travel Show. On Saturday at 4 p.m. AFS will perform native songs and guitar music. Richardson Day was set for 2 to 4 p.m. today. Richardson High School students and foster families staff the booths, highlighting AFS’s nonprofit, nonsectarian programs and scholarships.

SCAS Head to Read Two Papers at Tokyo COSPAR Meeting
Dr. Francis S. Johnson, head of SCAS Atmospheric and Space Sciences, will present two papers at the COSPAR 11th Plenary Meeting in Tokyo on May 16. One paper, coauthored with Dr. James E. Midgley, discusses Venus Induced Magnetosphere and solar wind interactions. the other, with Dr. Benjamin Gottlieb, covers Lower Thermosphere Composition Changes and polar region temperatures. The trip is funded by the National Science Foundation.

New K of C Council Formed to Serve Local Parishes
The newest Knights of Columbus council in Texas was formed to serve St Paul the Apostle in Richardson and St Mark’s in Plano with about 70 charter members. Tom Jeffrey was named Grand Knight and Bill Henry trustee. officers and delegates to the state convention were chosen at the first meeting. The next meeting is at 8 pm Monday in the St Paul School cafetorium.

Richardson School Board approves early plans for Berkner High
The Richardson School Board, in a Monday meeting, authorized preliminary construction for Lloyd V. Berkner High School in the east, with first phase to house 900 to 1,000 students and total enrollment aimed at 2,500. Officials expect fall start and about a year to finish.
Richardson ISD Trustees Install Policy Committee Chair
At the monthly meeting the Richardson Independent School District board appointed Leo M. McCurdy as chairman of the Board Policy Committee with Alden Pendery Paul J. Ashby and Dr. Charles A. Richardson serving as members. The board named all members and Superintendent J J Pearce to three annual committees Sites Building and Richardson City School Committee. N G Johnson of Richardson was hired to assess personal taxes filling the vacancy from Sidney Schutte resignation. Expenditures for March 1968 totaled 1 290 079 58. resignations of four professional personnel accepted. One professional worker hired for remainder of year. Seventeen professional personnel re-elected for 1968 69. Sixty new teachers hired for upcoming year about 45 percent of total new teachers. Safekeeping receipts from Citizens State Bank accepted. Minutes of last meeting approved.

Richardson City Council approves bids and extends permit
The Richardson City Council in a short session approved several actions. Bids for Buckingham area sewers were referred after reading by the City Manager. H. L. Peterson mowing unit bid valued at 2285 dollars and Motor Chevrolet Company's 23596.99 bid for automotive equipment were recommended as lowest bids. The council also extended Tommy Magner's sign permit 60 days and allowed VFW Post 8627 auxiliary to hang a Main Street banner May 18 to 26 for its poppy sale. A drainage easement for Tejas Apartments on Spring Valley Road was accepted, and the City Attorney was instructed to appeal an injunction ruling the city’s animal safe ordinance unconstitutional.

Labor dispute slows progress on regional airport project
The labor dispute delays work on the Dallas Fort Worth regional airport with a recommendation for higher wage rates likely to be appealed. If upheld the higher rates could apply to suburban municipal construction and initial site work including airport grading. Ground breaking is postponed until the dispute is settled and land acquisitions total 7170 acres about 40 percent of the planned area.
