Richardson Lion Named To Serve As Top Officer
Hugh Childress of the Richardson Lions Club was elected District Governor for 1964 65 at the Lions International District Convention held at the Marriott Motel. The district covers Dallas Ellis Hunt Rockwall and Kaufman counties with 52 clubs and about 3800 members. Childress, a funeral director at Restland, has held multiple club leadership posts and was named Lion of the Year in 1963. He and wife Wilma reside on Terrace Drive with three sons. Richardson will host the 1965 District Convention.

Speeding leads as most violations in corporation court
Judge R L Stanfield handled 158 cases on Monday night with speeding as the top violation. Twenty three people fined 10 to 35 dollars, one case dismissed. Seven negligent collision cases fined 15 to 25 dollars, one collision case dismissed. Fence violations 31 notices to one man over two feet tall, he absent. Minor offenders ten with no valid license fined 5 to 35 dollars. Fifteen cases dismissed for valid licenses. Dog ordinances seven fined 5 or 10 dollars, one dismissal. A March 31 and April 13 1964 meeting of a lay committee reviewed Science Research Associates Reading Kits used in Richardson schools. The panel found no sinister or communistic material, noted some personal objections, and emphasized free exchange of ideas while avoiding educational value judgments. Teachers and students showed enthusiasm for the kits as a supplement to the standard program. Richardson nuclear geologist Dr Henry Faul will depart for Poland this week as part of a four member delegation to explore a scientific exchange with the United States. The group is led by Prof Robert Marshak with Prof Antoni Zygmund and Provost David Goddard among the other members. Faul will attend Cracow's Jagellonian University 600th Jubilee on May 14 as part of the trip and the Polish Academy of Sciences invited the delegation.
