Educators to discuss promises at Dallas education conference
Texas public schools will be examined through citizen concerns and research at the two day conference Promising Practices in Education in Dallas May 10 and 11. Dr. Stanley B. McCaleb and Dr. Glenn H. Ivy will keynote the event with 500 educators expected to attend. Demonstrations of 24 programs plus 15 on site visits and 11 exhibits will highlight new ideas in Texas schools. Teachers from home districts will lead sessions at 10 30 a.m 1 30 and 3 p.m. May 10 and 8 45 a.m. May 11. A pre conference tour includes 14 Dallas area schools on May 9 and one on May 11. Dr. McCaleb formerly led Richardson school board and holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Cornell.

Medals for sale at cabin at Richardson Centenniel
A limited supply of silver and bronze medals commemorating the Richardson Centennial will be sold at the Centennial Headquarters in Richardson Heights Shopping Center. 100 serialized silver bronze sets at 11 dollars, 1,000 bronze medals at 2 dollars, plus 11 dollar display holders with a silver plated coin. 100 holders ordered. Serial numbers 73 and 100 reserved for auction during the June celebration.

West's Volunteers Complete 100 Mile Run
Richardson West Junior High faculty and staff moved to a 100 mile charity run titled The Centennial Run of West's Leaders to celebrate the citys centennial and raise funds for the Richardson Development Center. Led by Dr J J Pearce and organized by Patti Price and Roger Ellis, 40 runners started at 9 am and hoped to finish by noon, with sponsors per lap driving donations and student support throughout. The effort aided the development center and potential city property exchanges for Huffhines Park tennis courts, while the council approved zoning for Canyon Creek Baptist Church and accepted a drainage easement for Citizens Bank progress.
