YWCA Week Observances Highlight Local Programs
Richardson YWCA marks a week of events under the theme Where You Count the YWCA. Director Mrs. Jane Donaldson cites programs for girls and women including a summer day camp, expanded sports, and outreach to Lake Highlands Hamilton Park Plano. Since opening January 1967, the branch has enrolled over 900 participants and formed nine Y Teen Clubs serving about 300 local girls. The North Central Texas Regional Police Academy holds a 10:30 a.m. Wednesday dedication at the Inn of the Six Flags with J. W. Golden attending. Leon Jaworski will speak as Master of Ceremonies Tom Vandergriff will present the final report of the Citizens Law Enforcement Study Committee. J. R. Red Wright, former Tarrant County sheriff and former U S Marshal, will cut the ribbon. The academy will train recruits and officers from ten counties and open to public after the ceremony.
