Mary Hayes a 17 year old RISD senior leads Richardson High School gymnastic team with national hopes. She trains under coach Bill Willis at Sokol Zizzka in Dallas working compulsory routines and an optional floor routine with music. Hayes balances ballet study and afternoon three hour workouts at Sokol catching break for practice on Sundays. Her family supports her athletic drive as she targets national championships in Long Beach California April 11 to 13 with potential Olympic selection.

Richardson Marine Killed in Vietnam Action
Lance Corporal Alan Dale Carson of Richardson died in Quang Nam Vietnam after two days in country. A Trinity Valley High School and Richardson High School graduate he served nearly two years in the Marine Corps with time at Camp Pendleton and Kaneohe Bay. He is survived by parents siblings and a grandfather in Oklahoma. Military services are pending at Restland.
