A seven year prisoner of war Col Samuel Johnson was celebrated by Plano residents with a downtown parade after a stop at Mrs. Johnson’s brother Jim Melton’s home for champagne. The couple rode a convertible through cheering crowds as Johnson marveled at the hometown turnout and remarked he had no words. An envelope with movie passes for the family was presented at the reception.

Maxwell rites set in Houston
James P. Maxwell 72 of Richardson died in a Dallas hospital on Tuesday after retiring this year from a 20 year career as a Dallas area building constructor. A Hempstead native and Marine WWII veteran, he lived in Richardson 14 years and was a Hella Temple Shrine member. Survivors include wife Janie, a son, a sister and a brother. Services and interment will be in Houston.
