The State Board of Education approved shifting from semester to trimester to save money, with 180 days divided into three 60 day quarters and potential year round operation. Richardson schools study the move amid anticipated curriculum revisions and increased complexity, while maintaining a regular summer session.
Richardson City Council sets a 7:00 PM meeting with 16 items including three public hearings on zoning. Applicants seek 31.9 acres commercial zoning at Plano Road and Campbell Road, plus residential and townhouse zoning changes nearby. The agenda includes park bond projects, street work on Main Street, and sign ordinance revisions.
Three Richardson educators Dr Billy Pope Mrs Lottie Lyle and Mrs Carol Sprinkel will join 150 specialists in Houston March 7 to 9 to discuss problems in educating children ages three to five. Keynote speakers include Dr Jenny Klein and Dr Joe Frost with events at the University of Houston and Helena Motel.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Board urged approval by city councils of two cities for selling 112 million dollars in general revenue airport bonds, the final construction bond issue. Moody's rated the bonds Baa and S P gave A, boosting total airport revenue bonds to 422 million. The board also extended contracts for executive director Tom Sullivan and facilities consultant Charles Cronin through 1975.
Parents of Richardson teens will tour six junior high campuses tomorrow evening from 7 to 9 p.m. as Texas Public Schools Week enters its second day. Each school hosts varied events from book fairs and art shows to science fairs demonstrations and performances.
