An enthralled audience gave a standing ovation as RHS Fine Arts staged Rogers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma in the new auditorium. Kiwanis Club to Hear Fireman's Fund Speaker on Horse Power Death
Jefferies, claims representative of Fireman's Fund American Insurance, will address the Kiwanis Club at the 6:15 p.m. dinner meeting at Hubbard's Cafeteria in Dal Rich Shopping Village. His topic is Horse Power Sudden Death, a vivid word picture of how impact affects the human body. He is a noted regional speaker and Toastmasters International member with multiple contest wins. Guest violinist to headline Richardson Symphony concert

McDonald Receives Outstanding Faculty Honor at SMU Institute
Dr. W Scott McDonald Jr of Richardson has been named outstanding faculty member of SMU Institute of Technology for 1968 after student balloting. He is an SMU assistant professor of solid mechanics and holds B S and M S in civil engineering from SMU and a Ph D from the University of Kansas. He joined SMU in 1966 after earlier teaching and work with Space Technology Laboratories. His father, Dallas City Manager W Scott McDonald, spoke at the banquet where the award was announced.

Lions honor Johnson at surprise school assembly
Truett Johnson, principal of Spring Creek Elementary, was honored at a Friday morning assembly for fourth to sixth graders. Richardson Lions Club presidents Robert Long and Tom Means presented two plaques recognizing his service as charter president and past leader, plus a 10 year perfect attendance pin and a past president’s pin. Mrs. Johnson and their son Jim attended, as did Lions from both clubs.
