Dover Elementary sees 72 percent of sixth graders don patrol badges and flags. With Officer Rice and the Dover PTA, the program expanded from nine participants to 102 of 141 sixth graders, including girls as Patrolgirls. A Captain and Lieutenants run the daily, breakfast, and film sessions, boosting safety and community ties.

Richland College offers new defensive driving courses
Richland College expands its defensive driving courses in partnership with the Texas Safety Association. Over 250 participants completed the course in January and February, with new March sessions added. Eight hour courses finish in one week, with options on Tue Wed Thu March 13, Sat mornings starting March 24, and three week night formats. Successful grads receive a 10 percent auto insurance discount. Texas Safety Association reports 99 percent say the course improved driving habits. Funeral for Thom as Andrew Carrell in McKinney
Funeral services for Thom as Andrew Carrell known as Andy were scheduled at 3 30 p m in the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Chapel McKinney. Carrell 14 a Wilson Junior High student was found dead after an apparent accident in a wooded area near Renner Road north of Custer Parkway and North Central Expressway. He reportedly sniffed Pam with two companions before the incident. Interment will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park McKinney. He is survived by his parents and siblings and by grandparents and great grandmother from several area towns.

Doctors report narcotics thefts at two offices
Police report two offices on Cottonwood were entered on Wednesday by a suspect with a master key. Dr George R Clark reported an eight ounce Nebutol Elixer sedative stolen from a cabinet while Irwin Lehman MD saw three syringes and Darvon taken. A 17 year old was arrested in Richardson with barbiturates amphetamines marijuana cocaine and narcotics paraphernalia found at home. Police seized cocaine marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia plus $1800 in Dallas raids. An 18 year old Richardson man was stopped on South Central Expressway for marijuana odor. five marijuana cigarettes were found. Homeowner Gilbert Benavides reported a burglary on Cottonwood with a revolver holster shaving gear and a tape recorder taken.
