City employees honored with tenure service awards
A group of 17 Richardson city employees received tenure service awards in a City Hall ceremony. Clarence Schaub earned the first 20 year award since city inception, joining the Water Department on May 1, 1947 after military service. Clemit Hurst received 15 years as Field Services supervisor. Ten year honors went to seven staff across Finance, Fire, Police, Sanitation, Street and Water. five year awards went to six Fire, Finance, Police, Street and Tax Department members.

Richland College to be scenic new suburban campus
Richland College in the Dallas County Junior College District will open in 1971 at Abrams and Lawler between Richardson and Garland. It aims to be among the system’s most scenic sites with lakes on the property and a bridge linking building clusters. The two-year college will focus on electronics manufacturing and technical programs, while also serving transfer students and community education.

Collins earns 3.2 million in second fiscal quarter
Collins Radio Company reports 1968 Q2 earnings of 3.2 million on 111 million in sales for the quarter ending Feb. 2 with 1.10 earnings per share on 2,893,877 shares. Half year sales reach 223 million, up from 206 million, while six-month earnings fall to 5.5 million. Backlog stands at 395 million. Board approves additional long term debt financing and a 20 cent cash dividend payable April 15 to holders of record March 25.

AL Mitchell recalls a 1931 University of Iowa production of Green Grow The Lilacs used as the basis for Oklahoma. The play played in the river room of the Memorial Union with a makeshift stage and curved seating, opening a hot mid July night for a brief run.
