The Industrial Committee of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce outlined a new plan to attract industry to Richardson at a Tuesday night meeting at King Jim's Restaurant. The plan creates an industrial steering committee and research teams to identify opportunities and coordinate with existing firms to maintain a stable tax base.

Richardson teen reaches NFL nationals in Tennessee debate
Mike Leigh, senior at Richardson High School, represented Texas at the National Forensic League nationals at David Lipscombe College in Nashville in June 1922. He advanced three rounds in oratory and four in dramatic interpretation, placing in the upper half of both events. Redlands College offered a $6000 scholarship. Leigh plans to improve next year and spearhead Richardson’s first annual invitational NFL tournament.

Fire department records report a Tuesday kitchen fire at 202 Ocean Drive East Richardson. Overheated grease on and around the electric range caused heavy smoke and $750 in damages before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Col Homer Garrison Jr of the Texas Department of Public Safety announced an estimated 55 traffic deaths expected during the four day Fourth of July holiday. The Operation Motorcide emphasis runs from Friday 6 p.m. to Tuesday 11:59 p.m. with DPS and additional personnel tracking fatalities and reporting totals three times daily.

Rites Held For Richardson Man Burial Set Today
George Petkovich of 736 Sherrbrook Richardson died after an 11 day illness at Parkland Hospital Dallas. He is survived by his mother Beatrice and brother Bronko with in law Joyce Diane and nephews Robert and Mark all of Richardson. Prayer services were held Wednesday night and burial set for 2 p m with Reverend Peter G Bithos officiating at Greek Orthodox Church Dallas. Pallbearers listed Gordon Canellos Stewart Osburn Kessner Warwick.
