Aid to aged okayed by Dallas County commissioners
Dallas County approves two programs to help unemployed citizens aged 55 and over rejoin the workforce. SCSAP will place about 60 workers 20 hours weekly at minimum wage, funded by a U.S. Labor Department grant and backed by AARP and National Retired Teachers Association. STEP will hire six to eight workers 24 to 32 hours weekly at minimum wage, funded by the Governor's Committee on Aging. Workers may assist the Heritage Society Bicentennial prep and meals for the elderly program, with placement in non profit agencies or public service.

He is survived by wife Claire sons Neal Ricky and Greg and brother Arnold all of Dallas. Private interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to the Ira Kassanoff Cancer Research Fund care of Southwestern Medical School Dallas. Members of the council sat with Civil Service Commission Chairman Carl McClellan as the appeal board. Alexander said a large showing is planned for Friday and the committee plans to appear before the city council in two weeks to seek agenda placement.

Theft arrests sweep Richardson police actions
Richardson police detained several suspects on Monday in theft cases at Safeway 521 Campbell and Richardson Heights Shopping Center. A 58 year old Garland resident with an outstanding warrant was jailed for theft and warrant charges. A 29 year old with Dallas warrants was stopped after a trunk pry. A 23 year old cited for no license and noise violation. A 27 year old overdose victim was taken by ambulance to Parkland Hospital.

RSA letter condemns parks board action in Richardson
