RISD assistant superintendent A J Randall reported on a Dallas Public Transit Board decision to discontinue off-route school bus service affecting about 140 Lake Highlands Junior High area students. The board took no action on the transit issue while approving a Cooper Lake Channels Project resolution and a $97 215 bid by KAS Construction to convert a Greenwood Hills Elementary wing for special education.

The city plan commission voted to consider a variance from the zero foot setback rule for two story homes in residential zones. Clay Pearce seeks the variance for an 11.5 acre tract east of a Road and north of Lawler Road. The commission also approved final plat and development plans for Arapaho East No. 7 and preliminary plats for Spring Park West No. 2 and College Park East.
Richardson police reported multiple thefts including a 1971 Ford from a residence in Garland. A Garland youth, 15, was arrested as a suspect in a $2079 theft. Other losses included $600 of cowboy boots from Walking A Western Store and $400 of hunting gear from Richard Castleberry. A home break in saw an air conditioner, TV and stereo stolen after a front door was kicked in. A minor house fire occurred at 515 Sage Valley with juveniles playing with matches. no damage at Sally Barrett’s home.
