Police report a spate of vehicle rollaways and ransackings in Richardson starting around 3:35 a.m. with witnesses describing juveniles seen near driveways. Officers suspect youths involvement and have handed cases to the Youth Services Team for investigation.

Zoning hearing on church site proposed in Richardson

The city council will hold a public hearing Tuesday night at city hall to consider Nancy Ellen Holmes's zoning request for 22.5 acres at the northeast corner of Arapaho and Central Expressway to allow First Baptist Church of Richardson to build in a residential district. Larry R. Gill seeks a separate single family zoning for 20 163 acres north of Arapaho Road and west of Jupiter Road. The council will also consider a microfilm equipment contract for the police department and receive three plan commission items.

Richardson Forecast Cloudy With Slight Thunder Showers

The Richardson forecast calls for cloudy skies today through Tuesday with a small chance of thunder showers tonight and Tuesday. Highs near 90, lows around 70s, southerly winds 15 to 25 mph shifting to northwest today.

Plan Commission to hear zoning variance request tonight

The city plan commission will consider Clay Pearce's request to allow a two-story structure within 150 feet of residential zoning on an 11.5 acre tract east of Abrams Road and north of Lawler Road. Also on the agenda are final plats for Arapaho East No. 7 and preliminary plats for Spring Park West and College Park East.

Charcoal Grill Blaze Causes $20,000 Fire Loss at Plymouth Rock

A fire at 2102 Plymouth Rock Drive caused about $20,000 in damage when a spark from a charcoal grill ignited a woodpile and spread to the roof and attic. About 21 firefighters battled the blaze until it was under control at 3 38 p.m. The resident Donald Woodard suspects the patio grill started the fire. Other incidents included a Houston woman injured in a two vehicle crash near Campbell Road and Central Expressway and a Plano motorcycle crash on Lookout Drive.
