Lights Go Out on Main Street as City Loses Power
An electrical blackout affected about 8000 residents in west and northwest areas Wednesday afternoon after a transformer switch malfunction at the Richardson substation. Texas Power & Light official Lindley Elliott said service was restored within four to 17 minutes and police directed traffic at key intersections during the outage. He cited mechanical failure and noted bird nests or squirrels cause many similar outages.

Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene McJunkin Rogers of 602 Greenleaf were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Restland Memorial Chapel with ministers from Richardson Heights and Crestview Baptist Churches officiating. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park. She died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital and is survived by son Mack L. Rogers, mother Minnie May McJunkin, and brother H H McJunkin, all of Dallas, a Richardson resident for 12 years. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
