Japanese Students Visit Richardson From Sophia University
Thirty seven Sophia University students from Tokyo stayed with Richardson families over the weekend. Nineteen girls and 18 boys were housed with St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church parishioners as part of an ecumenical cultural exchange led by Rev. John McKechney S J. The group departs May 26 for a nationwide tour and six weeks at Boston College before returning to Japan.

City Sanitarian Attends Dallas Public Health Seminar

Last Rites For Walter H. Thompson Sr Parent Of Two Dallas Men
Funeral services for Walter H. Thompson Sr. of Argyle known as father to Water H. Thompson Jr. and Charls S. Thompson of Richardson were held at 3 pm in Argyle Baptist Church. The 76 year old retired General Lumber Co. manager died Friday in Denton after a career in lumber and Navy Seabees. Surviving are his wife three daughters including Gloria Williams Ellen Swift and Annette Burgess. two sons in Richardson. brothers Edward and John and sister Marcia plus ten grandchildren. Burial followed at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle.

Dallas County Commissioners Court approved a citizen committee to oversee the Master Road Plan. The panel will include 27 mayors, 22 chamber of commerce representatives, 13 city managers, five representatives from the Central Highway Committee, five from the Greater Dallas Planning Commission, and 10 appointees by the Commissioners Court. The panel will set bond expectations and oversee the initial program phase without binding cost figures yet.
