The Richardson Chamber of Commerce greeted 14 new members at its second quarterly meeting in the Marriott Motor Inn Richardson Room. Howard Watson, committee chairman, reported 69 new members for the year and progress toward a goal of over 100. Guest speaker Worth Blake, regional director for development at the North Texas Commission, spoke on Marketing the Metroplex, introduced by director Herb McJunkin.

Richardson school hours set for 1974-75 year
The Richardson ISD board will decide 1974-75 school hours at the regular meeting. A committee including PTA, teachers, principals and students recommended a day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with seasonal changes from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Updated bids for carpeting seven elementary schools were approved.

Local woman's death reclassified as murder in New Orleans

Richardson police grand jury decision awaited by city officials
Dallas County Grand Jury is expected to release findings on possible Richardson Police Department corruption Monday. City Manager Bob Hughey and four investigators heard testimony last Wednesday. Wilson and Gary Taylor remain terminated, with Civil Service appeals possible after the report. He will not decide until the Grand Jury results.

Ebstrup rites held in Restland Wildwood Chapel
Funeral services for Paul C. Ebstrup of 902 South Weatherred were held Saturday afternoon in Restland's Wildwood Chapel with Rev. Jack Hamilton officiation. Interment was at Restland. Survived by wife Nell Ebstrup of Richardson a daughter Mrs. William J Boyle of Denver two sons Ray Blanchard and Frank Blanchard both of Dallas and three grandchildren. Other survivors include one brother and two sisters both of Denmark.

Local runoffs show low turnout in Richardson area
Voter turnout was consistently light across all Richardson precincts in yesterday's primary runoffs. Election judges reported Republicans voting in force, with totals of 726 for Republicans and 411 for Democrats. Across 17 precincts, combined Republican and Democratic votes slightly exceeded 1,100, with Jim Jackson securing the Republican nod for Dallas.

Richardson wins honors in pollution control field
The Thirteenth Annual Meeting of the Texas Water Pollution Control Association highlighted awards for service in wastewater treatment and water pollution control. Richardson resident Robert E. Derrington and late David H. Stevens were honored for advanced water treatment work at a Richardson plant, with Stevens recognized posthumously. Derrington, North Texas Municipal Water District manager, holds Grade A certificates and has long been active as a training instructor. The association, a nonprofit under the Water Pollution Control Federation, includes professionals evaluating designing constructing operating and managing wastewater facilities. The Arlington meeting May 29–31 drew over 300 attendees.
