Collins Radio Company of Richardson and Lear Siegler of Santa Monica were named to produce about 350 ship sets of avionic flight control systems for the Lockheed L-1011 trijet. Production begins late 1970 with four major systems and fail operative capability to allow safe landings in low visibility.

P O stays open Saturday despite staff cutback pending
Richardson Post Office will operate on Saturday after Postmaster General W M Watson called off the planned Saturday closure at least temporarily. Postmaster George Kempson said changes in late shifts followed the Friday night notice, with about 20 of 42 section offices alerted to continue regular service though broader cuts may resume if Congress adjourns before August 3. Residential Saturday delivery remains unchanged.

Dark Horses win alley title in third annual Cleanest Alley contest
The Dark Horse Alley Team earned first place in the 1100 block alley between Larkspur and Pacific Drives scoring 100 from all six judges. Scotts-Down Place and the 1300 block alley earned second and third respectively, while Dr and Mrs Kenneth Kepler won the best individual alley award with the golden garbage can. Second place individuals tied were Bill Jarvis and Jim Jones, both on Larkspur Drive. Judges included local business leaders and realtors Ruth Young Vera McCarty and Dick Phinney. The winners will attend the Realtors of Richardson Alley Party next month.
