Richardson City Council members agree on most priorities for 1972 after a reporter's questions. The lone split comes from Councilman John Connally, who pushes for a city charter amendment to allow direct mayoral election. The council favors keeping the present method within the council.
Richardson residents are reminded that two of eight waste paper recycling sites accept any paper, with Mohawk Elementary PTA sponsors at Mohawk lot on Mondays and Tuesdays and Girl Scout Troop 164 at Richardson Heights Shopping Center the first weekend of each month. The Richardson Heights trailer will operate Jan 8 and 9 instead of the usual first weekend.
Guidance counselors in Richardson schools are deeply involved in student self appraisal and direction toward goals. They seek more aides to reduce paperwork and boost counseling time while following TEA guidelines for program improvement.

Nannilee Gayle Frost aged three of 1221 Cheyenne was admitted to Parkland Hospital with third degree burns covering 70 percent of her body. Fire caused clothing to burn off as she played near the fireplace. She remains in very critical condition. Damage to the home is estimated at 150 dollars. Police report two youths arrested for shoplifting at Gibsons Discount Center after being seen removing blouses.
Henry Mercer Harris Sr., 87, a former Plano justice of the peace and longtime Plano resident, died Wednesday in a McKinney hospital. He practiced law for 61 years and was a UT graduate and UT Law School alumnus. Surviving relatives include two sons, a daughter, a sister, five grandchildren, and a great grandchild. Burial at Plano Mutual Cemetery.
The Richardson Branch of the American Cancer Society will meet Thursday night at 8 oclock at the Texas Power and Light auditorium. A film on opera star Marguerite Piazza battling cancer will be shown. The public is invited to attend.
The Richardson region will enjoy fair weather and rising temperatures through Friday. Tonight’s low near 35 degrees, Friday’s high around 65 with southerly winds of 10 to 15 mph.
Kathy Elaine Bonner, 15, a Richardson High student, lives at 633 Greenleaf. She is five feet two, green eyed, with long brownish blonde hair and was last seen in a pea coat after taking out the trash last Thursday. Police ask anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division or call Mrs. Bonner at 235 0150.
The Richardson City Plan Commission meets at City Hall at 8:00 PM to decide whether to permit motorcycle sales in non commercial districts. A public hearing follows a prior case allowing veterinary clinics in retail centers. The panel also examines preliminary plats for Arapaho East No. 4 and 5.
Richardson councilman John Connally urged amending the city charter to elect the mayor by voters in 1972. He admitted lacking council votes but said public signatures and support could drive a referendum. Other council members prefer current council selection, citing familiarity with candidates and prevention of professional politics.
