Richardson Public Library Joins Texas Library System Plan
Richardson Public Library is among 31 Texas libraries in 33 counties eligible for membership in a new system organized under the 1969 Texas Library Systems Act. A Dallas-based system will receive about $8,900 in state grant money as ten systems form, with Dallas Public Library appointed Major Resource Center for coordinating act implementation.

Police report holiday incidents in Richardson area
Police logged a two car crash at Central Expressway and Belt Line. Joyce Cooke was treated for minor injuries at Presbyterian Hospital. A Sunrise Trail resident noted an empty house occupancy during holidays. Paint damaged an unoccupied Melrose Drive home with $75 loss. Gibson's caught two shoplifters on Christmas Eve. a Richardson youth tailed price tags and a Carrollton woman with an arrest warrant. Tire theft occurred at 1300 North Greenville. An outboard motor and fuel were stolen from a LaSalle block residence, totaling $133. Funeral services were held at Restland Funeral Home for Dr. James E. Hill a 57 year old Richardson resident. He co owned Central Expressway Animal Hospital and also co owned facilities in Longview. Survivors include his wife Martha and three sons along with a granddaughter and three aunts.

New ECS HQ Easier Work for Region X Education Staff
The Education Service Center for Region X moves from Abrams to a larger Abrams and Spring Valley site. The 35 000 square foot building replaces 15 000, enabling growth from a four member staff with a 1967 budget of 67000 to 140 plus employees with over four million in state and district funding for the current year. The seven departments offer curriculum leadership, administrative support, data processing, driver education, instructional media, and special education services for local school districts.

Funeral services for Nancy Baker Howard 61 of 605 Westwood Richardson were conducted Monday morning at the Church of Transfiguration. Burial followed at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Homer A Stewart Jr of Dallas and Mrs Don Widener of Richardson a son Edward Grear of Richardson a sister Mrs Martha Carson of Dallas a brother W S Deniger Sr of Dallas six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
