The November Major Crime Summary from the Richardson Police Department reports similar crime rates to October with 38 burglaries, 28 thefts over $50, five automobile thefts, and three aggravated assaults in November versus 32 burglaries, 30 thefts over $50, ten automobile thefts, and two aggravated assaults in October.
Mrs. Carney of 312 Hillside Richardson died Tuesday in Dallas at 77. Entombment in Chapel Garden Mausoleum. Survivors include son O. J. Police report November thefts under 50 rise from October totals. grand thefts fall. October crimes total 172 vs 150 in November with 50 arrests and $11 039.71 recovered. 27 juveniles arrested in November. 32 traffic injuries and seven fatalities this year in Richardson. Police clock 59 733 miles patrolling and issued 886 citations.
The Richardson Police arrested 23 people over a week in unified raids to disrupt narcotics traffic. Eight pounds marijuana plus LSD, pipes and scales were seized and sent to the county crime lab as officers say more cases head to grand jury.
The Richardson City Plan Commission meets tonight at City Hall to decide if motorcycle sales may operate under special permit in non commercial zones. A similar ruling last month allowed veterinary clinics in local shopping centers. The panel will also hear Leon Cogburn on a variance for underground utilities at 401 Interurban and review the Car Wash City site plan at 346 South Central Expressway.
Three recognized Eagle scouts from Troop 806 Lynn Kitchen Stuart Murchison and Scott Davis were honored at Eagle Scout ceremonies Monday night at Spring Valley Methodist Church Lynn Kitchen held multiple leadership roles since joining in 1966 advancing from tenderfoot to Life in 1968 and earning Golden Arrow staff roles Stuart Murchison joined in 1968 serving as patrol leader scribe librarian instructor and junior assistant scoutmaster with rare merit badges reptile study aviation and sculpture Scott Davis began 1969 earning Star in January 1970 Life in August 1970 and serving as den chief and instructor while joining the Order of the Arrow.

City offices shut for Christmas Eve and Day and New Year events. Richardson Public Library and Recreation Center close Friday and Saturday and on New Year’s Day. Recreation Center hours end 5 PM New Year’s Eve and reopen Monday January 3, 1972. Banks also close for the weekend.
Texas Taxpayers Inc a Richardson based group with nearly a decade of activity has begun a drive to hire a taxpayer s lobbyist in Austin The board member Wyatt B Hallmark notes there were 2600 lobbyists in the state capital last legislature while the taxpayer had no representative The group formed May 29 1962 and started with county issues Hallmark says the group prompted reforms by exposing county records and audits in Dallas County and that District Attorney Henry Wade praised jury trial volumes and urged the group to visit Dallas County for a similar push.
The Richardson Jaycees finish scouting decorative homes and will pick a winner for the Light Up Richardson contest. Preliminary winners are listed for weekend viewing at multiple addresses including Ridgeway Crestover Chippewa Timberlake and Northpark lanes, among others.
Police report a major accident at the corner of Annapolis and North Park Drive involving a car and bicycle. Scott Garner and William Skiles, both 10, were treated at Richardson General Hospital with minor injuries. Garner released while Skiles stayed hospitalized. A Richardson youth faced theft charges after altering price tags at Gibson's Discount Center and was jailed.
The Richardson Jaycees won first place for the most beautiful float in Grand Prairie Christmas Parade on Main St last Saturday. Eighteen ministers scored fifteen entries on a 1 to 5 scale, awarding the Jaycees 43 points of a possible 50. The Melinda Memorial Trophy honors a Grand Prairie Jaycee's daughter who died last year.
