Richardson Independent School District superintendent Pearce was celebrated by Rotarians and community leaders for 25 years of perfect attendance in the civic group. Explorers chartered Explorers Post 78 of Richardson received a 20 year charter from Circle 10 Council Exploring Division in Dallas. Richardson police crack down nets 18 youths in drug raid
Lt James Bellamy of the Richardson Police Department says 18 youths were arrested in a weekend crackdown on illegal drugs and alcohol. Most were charged with minor in possession or possession of drugs. Drugs including marijuana hashish and LSD were confiscated and sent to the Dallas County Crime Lab for analysis. Also reported was a $99.93 7 11 robbery and two youths apprehended for stealing lifesaver candy worth 33 cents.

The Richardson City Council published a two page progress report detailing 3 million of street park and fire station bonds spent. Water and sewer revenue bonds completed last Dec 10 million remain unsold. The council granted an 18 month permit extension for a chiropractor clinic at 502 North Central. A public hearing date was set for zoning requests RA 1100 M townhouse area north of Restland Cemetery and Blanchard 100 acres at Arapaho and Greenville. High Wildcats beat Gregory-Portland for title in Austin.

Jewelry theft and minor property losses report
Police logged several theft and property incidents. Jewelry valued at 735 dollars was reported missing at 100 West Shore Place with possible dates between August 15 and December 18.
