Mostly cloudy and cold with intermittent snow in Richardson. Highs in the mid 30s both days and a low Sunday morning in the low 20s. Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 34 degrees.
Pedro Escauriza, a 71 year old former auto dealer in Rosario, Argentina, bought 18 sections of ticket No 5092 for 199 pesos and claimed most of a 676000 peso payoff after the ticket proved to be the winner. The Escaurizo family had not hit the lottery since 1904 when Pedro's brother won 100000 pesos.
The Richardson Independent School District reports a fiscal year ending Aug 31 total education costs of 6 734 297 22 with about half for school administration and related costs and the rest for school operation. Per pupil operating costs total 284 36 with 11 802 74 average membership. Capital outlay reached 2 511 849 43 and debt service 866 220 03. Two Richardson High and one Lake Highlands High students chosen for All-State Youth Orchestra. event set in Houston.
Richardson City Council will study parking requirements in city sections at the regular session Monday night. A letter from the City Plan Commission will be read with routine discussion and no final action anticipated. CAPE KENNEDY UPI The United States launched its eighth Tiros satellite on a three stage Douglas Delta rocket from Cape Kennedy at 4 30 a m EST. The 265 pound satellite aimed to send back instant weather pictures from 425 miles above Earth to 42 ground stations in 14 countries. Officials awaited confirmation after earlier delays due to rocket malfunctions.
Frigid weekend brings light snow flurries and temperatures in the 20s. Dry, patchy ice ahead of more light, dry snow expected. highs in the 30s, with a potential White Christmas as the five day outlook holds little change. At least 11 traffic deaths linked to icy roads as winter arrives across Texas.
The 1964 Dallas County Parade of Homes will be at Canyon Creek in Richardson North with one site. Tentative dates are May 30 to June 14. Wallace Investments Inc. won the bid to develop the site and Don Dix of Dixon-Furlow Inc. signed first for a build. Homes will lie near Canyon Creek Drive and Lookout Drive beside the Canyon Creek Country Club with some lots backing the golf fairway. Canyon Creek is about 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, off North Central Expressway and Campbell Road exit 26. Twenty-two lots were offered to HBA members for the display, with home prices from 25000 to 35000 dollars. The Graduate Research Center of the Southwest, adjacent to Canyon Creek, adds desirability. This year’s Parade of Homes was in The Meadows, near Walnut Hill Lane, and set attendance records.
West Berlin residents poured through the so called Christmas Crack at the anti refugee wall to visit relatives blocked for 28 months. Thousands carried food and cigarettes as guards watched while reunions with mothers sons grandfathers and granddaughters began. The crossings run 16 days with a 12 hour visit limit and end Friday night.
