At Spring Creek Elementary fifth graders reenacted a posada to learn Spanish amid a Mexican holiday. Beth Willcockson ties the celebration to Texas Mexican heritage, etymology and ongoing conversational Spanish with plans to dine at a Mexican restaurant and encourage continued language study.
Richardson fire crews report a Sunday morning blaze at 520 Shirley Court that left the residence a total loss with $30 000 in structure and $5 000 in contents damaged. No residents were home. A 19 year old man was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to assault a 9 year old girl in nearby Murray Street.
Richardson High School senior Richard Hancock plays Santa at Richardson Square Mall for $3.50 per hour, 25 hours weekly, donning a size 58 suit and beard. He notes children ages four and under believe most, describes handling requests, and recalls a rare cigarette and earrings wish. He believes the role provides joy when kids truly believe.
