Santa Claus arrived by helicopter to 15 Richardson elementary schools as part of the Toys for Tots campaign organized by the U S Marine Corps Fourth Marine Division in Dallas. Children shouted with delight as Santa greeted preschoolers and shook hands before moving on to the next stop.

City Council Approves Master Street Plan Revisions
Richardson council approves revisions to the Master Street Plan including Alma Road realignment for a future Campbell Road Central Expressway interchange, extensions of Fall Creek Drive and Sherman Street, and widening Sherman Street to 100 feet. A 93 acre Webster tract zoning for apartments, offices, and retail is also approved with 20 units per acre cap.

Richardson exceeded its local United Fund goal by 15 percent, reaching a final total of 16 276 dollars. Campaign chair Bill Gable said Richardson led Dallas County towns in contribution percentage and surpassed the original 14 522 dollar goal by 1 754 with donations continuing to arrive through October. The 1968 total also beat last decade’s 13 560 by 2 716.
