Computer tax service set for suburbanites

Dallas County Commissioners authorize a notification to suburban cities and taxing jurisdictions about a computerized tax billing and collection service. The program uses the data tape system in the tax collector's office and may cover school districts and other districts upon request.

Survival Service set for county residents

County commissioners approve a new 24 hour answering and referral service within the welfare department to begin before Christmas. The program will be led by an Emergency Worker earning 10000 dollars yearly with a 27000 dollar emergency fund. Board members include Anne Wright Alfred J Hill Morton Sanger David Carden Mary William Ruby Lincoln Vernetta Helton Lee Haviland and others. The service aims to aid the county's destitute and is described as an umbrella of care.

Road Runner Race Set by PARC Tomorrow

PARC hosts the 6th annual Road Runner Race at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. The 11.5 mile course begins at the University of Texas Richardson near Campbell Road and ends there. Divisions include high school, college up to age 29, women, and Joggers with trophies for all. Entry fee is $1.00, paid before start or at the Recreation Center. information via PARD.

Richardson Independent School District approved bids for two new elementary schools and kitchen equipment. Forest Meadow project awarded to T C Crist of Dallas for 1 061 000 base plus 6 000 alternate. Commission approves zone change for 9.66 acre tract

City Plan Commission voted four to one to approve Zoning File 7029 changing TOM to LRM 2 for 9.66 acres between Alma Road and Central Expressway north of Campbell Road with a condition that 20 percent of construction be completed within two years and potential reversion if unmet. Opposed by Nathaniel Ekelman. Public hearing set for Zoning File 7034 on East Beltline Road. Dunkin Donuts site plan approved for Northrich Village Shopping Center.

Collins Radio Receives E Star Award for Export Growth

Collins Radio Company received the E Star Award for continued superior performance in foreign marketing activities. The certificate and flag were presented at Collins' Dallas offices by a Presidential Committee member, with Secretary Maurice H. Stans signing. Export volumes surged from 1.2 million in 1949 to 63 million in 1969.

RARC Continues Support for Cooperative Training Center

Richardson Association for Retarded Children presents a check totaling 648.50 to O B Herrington for the Cooperative Training Center in Richardson. Since opening in September the group has donated 1648.50 to outfit the center serving 25 students ages 14 to 21.

Kiwanian of the Year Named in Richardson

David A. North of 7329 Tophill Lane Dallas was chosen Kiwanian of the Year by the Richardson Kiwanis Club at its Christmas party for service to the Richardson community and leadership in club goals. He coordinates Key Club activities and led the formation of a new boys service group at Berkner High School this fall. He heads the Kiwanis vocational guidance program and supervised tuition aid awards at Richardson and Pearce high schools. He served as associate chairman of Operation Drug Alert for the Dallas area and helped run a drug abuse referral center.
