Sixth grade science club students at Canyon Creek Elementary are raising chinchillas donated by a local widow. Sponsor Leonard Nelson says students study temperature, diet, and health while tracking growth. Parents volunteer to help design an outdoor enclosure and plan a potential fundraising venture. The Richardson Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the administration building to discuss three actions including Governor Briscoe’s energy conservation plan, bids for a new Pearce High auditorium, and preliminary plans for a new elementary near Campbell and Hillcrest. The plan calls for setting thermostats at 68 to 78 degrees, shorter class periods, afternoon activities, and possible four hour or full day schedules during a three month emergency period from January to March.
