Prentice to head Texas Delta Upsilon Chapter
Tom Prentice of Richardson has been elected president of the Texas Chapter of Delta Upsilon at the University of Texas in Austin, becoming the 24th leader of the non secret fraternity. The group recently drew attention with a charity Run for Their Lives from Austin to Dallas, raising nearly $10,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Texas in collaboration with Kappa Kappa Gamma. Prentice, a UT public relations student and 1970 Richardson High School graduate, previously edited RHS Talon and led the UIL Press Conference, and has worked as a Daily News reporter and interned for Congressman Graham Purcell. He also assisted Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes during Barnes' 1970 gubernatorial bid.

Pearce High School band offers doorstep Christmas carols
The Pearce High School band will again perform a short Christmas music program for citizens who request it. Director Dick Floyd will arrange home concerts by phone at the School Administration Building extension 26. Memorial services were held for Walter W. Donnelly 54 of 119 Briarcrest Drive retired in 1971 from Faultless Caster Co. at St Pauls Catholic Church. Donnelly died last Thursday in Bridgeport Wise County. He also worked for Memo Grande Oil Co in San Tome Venezuela and Kerr McGee Co. He is survived by his wife Ines and two daughters.

Hearing device brings new sound to Richardson boy
Carlton Swenson, 10, of 201 Dublin Drive, gains amplified hearing through a cross hearing aid funded partly by the Northpark Lions Club. The fifth grader at Dover Elementary will hear more of his surroundings, aiding his learning in regular and resource classrooms as teachers support an individualized program. Carlton has partial hearing in one ear and is deaf in the other due to meningitis at 27 months, and his family, teachers, and Lions Club officials see a brighter 1973 ahead.

Dallas helicopter sharing program to cover 29 agencies
Dallas Police Department Helicopter Section met with representatives from 29 Dallas area agencies including Richardson to establish an area wide helicopter service under a May 1971 grant of 394,782 dollars. The funding buys four helicopters and related equipment for emergency use as Richardson police have frequently relied on the service. A recent incident involved a searchlight assisted investigation of an armed robbery at the Spanish Trail Apartments on Spring.

Fire damages at Valley View Village apartments
Flames struck Valley View Village Apartments at Coit Road and LBJ Freeway mid morning Saturday. Dallas firemen reported 16 units destroyed and estimated damages around 150000 dollars. Origin of the fire was unknown by Saturday afternoon.
