Pioneer A launch details reveal TI guidance systems and cosmic ray probe
Texas Instruments provided the guidance programmer and high reliability ICs for Pioneer A, the Cape Kennedy deep space satellite for NASA. The mission includes a cosmic ray anisotropy detector built in Dallas to study solar system radiation and aid astronaut protection. The device records particle arrivals, converts data to telemetry, and operates on about 1.5 watts.

The city and parks department invite all citizens to the Recreation Center at 711 Arapaho for an open house Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. Staff will explain programs and demonstrations. notable attendees include Jim Edwards and Dani Smotherman. The $250000 facility opened in June adjacent to the pool with 18700 square feet and six craft rooms.

Seagoville Driver Injured In Thursday One Vehicle Crash
Preston Jones, 43, of Seagoville is in satisfactory condition after a one car crash on Campbell Road west of West Frontage Road. He was hospitalized at Richardson General Hospital with bruises after his truck went out of control on a wet surface and ended in a ditch. Police estimate damage and identify another party as Fred Peak of Dallas.
