Richardson Jaycees sponsor city Christmas decorating contest
Preliminary judging starts tonight from 7:34 to 10 p.m. and continues through Saturday and Sunday with final judging next week Monday and Tuesday. No entry forms required as the city will be canvassed. Decorations must be lit during judging hours. Grand prize winner earns 25 dollars. general and religious category winners get 10 dollars. Runners up and honorable mentions recognize. Winners published in the Daily News next week.

Richardson Public Library Announces Third Annual Christmas Story Festival
The Richardson Public Library announces a free Christmas Stories program on Sunday December 17 at 3 p.m. at the Recreation Center 711 West Arapaho Road. Storytellers include Mrs John Pittman Miss Anita Decker and Mrs Roland Denney with stories for ages four to twelve and teens and adults. The program features readings from The Year Without Santa Claus The Littlest Angel Twas the Night Before Christmas and other seasonal tales with music from the Richardson West High School Concert Chorus and carol singing.

Texas Hwys Launch Deathwatch During Holiday Weekends
Major Guy Smith of the Texas Department of Public Safety announces Operation Deathwatch over two holiday weekends to curb violent deaths. The Christmas period runs Dec 22 to Dec 25 with an estimated 55 fatalities. New Year runs Dec 29 to Jan 1, 1968 with an estimated 45 fatalities. Police will use extended hours, strict enforcement, helicopters, and radar, urging drivers to act responsibly and drive soberly.

New automobile licensing fees announced for 1968 tags
Earl McGuire of the Richardson county tax office announced a new fee schedule for 1968 vehicle registrations. Tag reservations are accepted at the Dallas County Records Building through January 10, 1958 with mailing costs of 40 cents or 60 cents for multiple plate sets. Fees range from 12.30 for 1 3500 pound cars to 30.30 for 4600 6000 pound vehicles. trailers have a 5.30 minimum, motorcycles 5.30, and trucks at standard rates.
