The Federal Radiation Council warns that exposure above about 250 rads lifetime could be hazardous. Average Americans receive about 110 millirads yearly from natural background radiation, with limits and varying risks for workers and the general public.
City Manager Bob Hughey says bond projects begin within months with no visible changes yet. Improvements include three baseball fields at Richland Glenville Huffhines and Pearce areas, six new tennis courts, lighting, restrooms storage and land purchases as available, plus street work set to start in nine to twelve months and bidding processes to take about a year.
The Texas Public Utilities Commission approved a plan reducing Richardson base home rates to 7.50 monthly while Bell faces long distance hikes and 20 cent payphone gains totaling about 57.8 million dollars in annual revenue. Bell may appeal, with new rates expected in about a month.
The Richardson Jaycees organize their annual Christmas Shopping Tour with the Salvation Army. Needy children will be brought to Richardson Heights Shopping Center for a shopping spree with $5 each at Sun Rexall Drugs, then a luncheon at a local church to celebrate the holiday spirit.
Police reported thefts at Gibsons Beauty Supply and Dave Markley Ford, plus a public intoxication arrest and a car train collision near Central Expressway. Three black females were described in the store theft, while a Mustang valued at 4218 was stolen from a Ford lot between Sunday and Monday.
