Hunting pays off for local family
The Beckham family hunts in southern Texas each year and fills their garage with deer and turkeys. Mary Beckham butchers and trims the meat while teaching her sons ages 20 9 and 7 gun safety and camp chores. The family preserves the carcasses as jerky rugs gloves and clothing and plans to share the meat with relatives as Christmas gifts. Bill Beckham, age 9, bagged an eight point deer this year. The family uses a WWII jeep for hunting and plans to cook for their family and fraternity brothers. Next year Mary may join as an observer as the men handle cooking duties.
