City Council approves IBM contract to connect Richardson Police to the North Central Texas Crime Information Center in Dallas and the FBI system in Washington. The setup will allow instant checks of vehicle and person records nationwide, with initial costs around 110 dollars and 275 dollars monthly for operation. Training will be via COG's Regional Police Academy in Arlington.

Reception Sunday to honor Richardson's Uncle Jess Harben
A birthday reception for Jess M. Harben, longtime Richardson resident and 60 year Odd Fellows member, will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Woman's Club building 529 Campbell Road. Harben, born 1888 in Kaufman County, helped run a drug store and served as mayor of Richardson in 1931 and on the Dallas County School Board, with civic and fraternal ties including Rotary, Masonic Lodge, and Rebekah Lodge.
