Dallas County Commissioners approved a condemnation to acquire a 1.5 acre North Richardson site from Safeway Stores to block a future outer outer loop store. County Planning Engineer R T Gregory stressed this is a protective purchase not a right of way start. District Attorney Henry Wade to authorize payment up to 60000 dollars.

Amarillo boy to solo with orchestra in local concert
Eight year old Mark Johnston of Stults Road Elementary will appear as guest soloist with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra at a Wednesday concert. He plays the Hayden Piano Concerto in C Major under conductor Dr. Thomas Hohstadt. Johnston, son of Bert and Mrs. Johnston, has won top honors in several competitions and will perform again at the Southwestern Division MTNA convention in New Orleans on February 12.

The Richardson Jaycees sponsor their third annual Christmas Shopping Tour for about 40 Buckner Baptist Home orphans in Dallas. Children start at Sun Rexall Drug with a $5 bill, then wrap gifts at the Recreation Center, with lunch and games to follow assisted by Jaycee groups.

Four RHS students selected for SMU Museum course
Four Richardson High School students Susan Canham Donna Bate Don Fussell and Gordon Bellah were chosen for SMU Shuler Museum Honors Program in Earth Sciences for Secondary School Students of High Ability running Saturdays through May 25. The 30 member class from grades 10 and 11 will study advanced topics and conduct labs and field trips with SMU faculty and Shuler Museum staff.

Jangle Band Demonstration Set at NTSU Tuesday
John Davies of the CMP will guest lecture and conduct a rehearsal techniques demonstration at North Texas State University on Tuesday night.
