Battle of Bands lights up Richardson Rec Center Saturday
A Battle of the Bands is set for Saturday night from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Richardson Recreation Center. Junior and senior high students compete for a $100 first prize. the winning group earns a spot at the center’s December 22 Christmas dance. Local bands Rongers Vagabonds Mystics Out Crowd Castlemen vie for top honors under a five member judging panel.

Christmas Stories Set Sunday At Rec Center

McCarley Named Manager for Magna Oil Operations
Robert E. McCarley has been appointed Manager of all Drilling and Production Operations for Magna Oil Corporation. He previously served as Chief Drilling and Production Engineer. Magna Oil operates in Thibodeaux Louisiana and Texoma area with Dallas home offices. TI Opens Sherman Plant Mid February
Texas Instruments plans to occupy a new Sherman facility in mid February to house the Semiconductor Components division. About 750 TV employees are expected to staff a two shift operation by 1967 under A N Provost who will manage the plant with key managers named for personnel, process engineering, production planning, product engineering, manufacturing, quality control, industrial engineering, and maintenance. Construction began September 1965 on a 700 acre site along Highway 75 within Sherman’s southern city limits about 50 miles north of Dallas.

On-The-Job Training For 4160 Service Station Salesmen
The Labor Secretary approved an on-the-job training program for 4,160 service station salesmen across 13 states including Texas Arkansas and Louisiana. The Texas Owl Jobbers Association Austin will train 640 in-state, while Arkansas Oil Marketers Association Little Rock and Louisiana Oil Marketers Association Baton Rouge will train 320 each. About 3,000 will be drawn from the unemployed and 1,160 will be upgraded from handyman and odd job retail work.
