The Richardson Golden Eagle Band plans to attend the 18th Annual Midwest National Band Clinic in Chicago but needs about $20,000. The drive has raised around $4,600 with Monday deadline looming. Community members are urged to donate nickels and dimes at Band Trip Headquarters to reach the goal.
A 49 year old South Oak Cliff woman spent the night in County Jail on a tentative charge of drunkenness after she drove on the wrong side of the Central Expressway median at Exit 4% causing other vehicles to swerve to avoid head on collisions. A motorist called Richardson police and officers halting the woman, described as pretty drunk.
Students and teachers in the Richardson School District will observe Christmas holidays from December 22 to January 4. Classes dismiss at 3 p.m. Tuesday December 22 and resume January 4 at 8 30 a.m.
Judge W L Sterrett recalls how Central Expressway faced protests but later proved his vision. He credits Mayor Woodall Rodgers and urges voters to approve outer loop right of way bonds to relieve Dallas County congestion without a local bond issue.

Richardson citizens paid 44 minor traffic fines in Corporation Court Monday night before Judge RL Stanfield who presided over 124 cases. Twenty two offenders cited for no valid license had cases dismissed if license held. Eight negligent collision fines were issued. two $50 penalties noted. Speeding filings dropped to 15. eight dog violations at $5 each. Drunkenness counts reached 13 with fines from $20 to $44. several defendants failed to appear. A barking dog fine of $25 was recorded. Fire code citations totaled 11 with eight not appearing. Court meets on the first and third Mondays and one Saturday per month.
Mrs. Charles Frambes Daily News women's editor suspected something wrong with her car Monday. A Dallas juvenile officer confirmed thieves had stolen her license plates Saturday and swapped in tags from a stolen vehicle. The culprits were arrested and Frambes now seeks to recover her plates and restore proper registration.
A steady rainfall soaked the Richardson area starting Thursday dusk and continuing overnight. By morning the area measured over an inch of precipitation, with overcast skies and cooler temperatures holding in the mid fifties. Forecasts call for more rain and only a small temperature rise later today. In national notes, Old Town Maine registered a low of 20 below zero and Santa Barbara California saw a high of 78 on Wednesday.
