Abilene ready for the arrival of Cooper Cougars the No. 1 team as Richardson hosts its Eagles in a Cotton Bowl lead up. Fans fill streets and schools broadcast pep rallies fielding a massive citywide celebration and caravan to the showdown.
Mayor John Gordon will flip the switch at 7 p.m. to illuminate the 43 foot tree. YMCA Indian Guide and Hi Y clubs decorated the tree with ornaments. The event includes ministers, the Westminster Choir, and a preview of the annual Y's Men Christmas Tree Sale adjacent to the YMCA building.
Senior cheerleader Martha Perryman says all Eagle boosters should gather at the field house behind the AHS gym for a city wide Spirit rally as the Eagles depart for their state semi finals against Abilene Cooper's Cougars tomorrow.
Richardson Police announce J B Morris 25 named 1967 Officer of the Year by police and the Richardson Jaycees. Morris joined October 1965 after Dallas Police Reserve and Highland Park tenure, recognized for efficiency and courtesy and praised by citizens with commendations.

Albert A McAlister receives 42100 Mobile Service Station permit at 890 West Arapaho Road in Arapaho North Shopping Center Campbell Bros Inc buys 411000 for Buddies Supermarket at 300 Westwood Shopping Center Rich Enterprises Inc 24000 for a 1500 square foot Shakey s Pizza Parlor at 528 West Arapaho Road Northrich Village. Residential permits include four for J F Pruitt in Richardson Heights Addition No 17 at 1911 1913 1921 Deep Valley and 1813 Floyd Road plus Crockett Kelly Construction at 420 Ridgewood Canyon Creek County Club Addition No 12 and 312 Arborcrest Canyon Park Estates. Dixon Furlow also secures a home at 2508 Grandview Canyon Creek County Club Addition No 3 and Lal Mac Construction proceeds with new residences. Continued on Page 12.
College students from the University of Dallas SMU Bishop College and TWU volunteer one evening weekly to tutor junior high boys and girls in West Dallas. Tutors offer attention and guidance rather than strict academics and the program may lead to scholarships. the effort is coordinated through Community Centers and local churches.
