Christmas Party for Retarded Children Planned Monday Night

The Richardson Association for Retarded Children invites brothers and sisters to a 7:30 p.m. party in the Dallas Federal Community Room with Santa Claus, a magician, carols, and refreshments. The group, formed to help retarded children at home, in schools and institutions, has established the Richardson School for Retarded Children and other programs.

Collins to Lay Off Ten Percent of Dallas Area Workforce

Collins Radio Co announces a job cut totaling about 10 percent of its Dallas area staff. The reduction follows earlier layoffs at Richardson facilities and will span all departments as production levels adjust from Oct. 15 through Feb. The company expects roughly 490 laid off by now with another 250 anticipated.

Civic Arts Society Art Show Opens at UTD Today

The Civic Arts Society opens its fourth annual juried show at the University of Texas at Dallas Founders Building today from 2 to 5 p.m. with works by regional artists on display until January 3. Richardson City Council Meeting Agenda and Zoning Hearings

The Richardson City Council will hold its weekly meeting at 8 p.m. Monday in City Hall. The agenda includes Public Hearing on Zoning File No. 6942 for 6.4 acres LRM-2 and 8.32 acres D-1400-M at the southeast corner of Renner and Custer, a recommendation on equipment bids, an ordinance for a zoning tract on Sherman Street by the Como Motel, authorization to execute a computer link contract with the Crime Information Center, and a Public Hearing on Zoning File No. 6938 for 1M-2 zoning for the St Louis and Santa Fe Railway tract.

David Golub a Juilliard sophomore won the Beethoven Piano Concerto Competition and appeared as soloist at Lincoln Center performing Beethoven No 4. A freshman he was first alternate in the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Appraisals Focus at UT Austin Tax Workshop Attendance

The University of Texas at Austin Institute of Public Affairs hosted over 300 professional tax assessors for a three day workshop. Richardson Tax assessor-collector Jim C Deaton attended as part of the 11th Institute for Tax Assessors. Denton has attended each year. Topics covered included motels service stations motor vehicles and mobile homes in relation to tax appraising and assessing.
