Richardson approves 1 percent city sales tax
Richardson residents approve a 1 percent city sales and use tax to start April 1 1968. At two polling places 1816 votes were cast with 1085 in favor and 731 against. Officials say the levy will raise over 190000 annually to bolster operating funds and reduce future property tax increases.

Special bus service set to transport Eagle fans
Richardson businessmen arrange round trip bus service from four city loading points to the State Semi finals between RHS Eagles and Abilene Cooper Cougars. The YMCAs Men’s Club places a 43 foot Community Christmas Tree in Richardson with a Friday 7 p.m. lighting ceremony at 810 Custer. Local youth groups helped decorate the tree and the Westminster Choir will lead carols as 450 feet of lights are added for a traditional old fashioned Christmas celebration.

Richard son High School dominates THSPA Cream of the Crop honors
Richard son High School students earned eight of ten Cream of the Crop awards at the THSPA event and both RHS yearbook Eagle and newspaper Talon received Certificates of Merit. Winners included Tommy Mullins for news and yearbook pictures, Bob Dudney for column Sport Swirl, and Robert Smith, Nancy Johnson, Stephen Bryant in various story and ad categories. The Talon placed second for small ads, and RHS sent 39 students with two sponsors to the THSPA convention at Texas Woman's University in Denton, the largest in 42 years with over 1,000 journalists attending.
