Wad and the Worm wins first in teen film awards
Douglass Smith a 16 year old from Richardson and St Marks School won first place in Kodak Teens age Movie Awards junior category for his animated film The Wad and the Worm Judges praised its humor sense of comedy and clever live animation using modeling clay The first prize is 150 dollars The film which took a year to make was shown on KERA TV and Smith plans more entries in Jesuit Film Festival and future contests While he aims to study movie making in California he intends to continue monster and live action projects with potential human counterparts for Wad and the Worm

Police arrest two for theft of nickel bars at Collins Building
Richardson police arrested two Garland men on charges of Theft Over 50 for allegedly stealing three nickel anode bars from Collins Building 405. The crime occurred between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Thursday. One suspect turned himself in. the other was arrested. Charges expected to be filed with the District Attorney over the weekend.

Guidance Center Set to Open Sunday at Richardson Hospital

Robbery at Col. Sanders outlet on Arapaho Road
A male described as Latin American robbed the Col. Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken at Camelot Shopping Center on Arapaho Road of an undetermined amount of cash. Store manager Todd Holmes was alone in the store when the incident occurred. Police also logged several other crimes including vehicle theft, a watch theft, wheel covers removal, and multiple driving while licenses suspended cases.

Douglass Smith of Richardson, aged 15, takes first prize in the junior Kodak Teenage Movie Awards for his film The Wad and the Worm. The film depicts clay figures changing shapes as the wad’s tongue reaches the worm. It will air this month on KERA Channel 13.
