Virginia Adams lost her wedding and 25th anniversary rings when she flushed a tissue with them. After telling her boss, city officials sent workers to recover the rings from Richardson’s sewer system. The delays nearly doomed the recovery as the street sewer line was set to be flushed the next day.
The Parks and Recreation Department launches the first phase to expand senior programming in Richardson. Recreational Specialist Barbara Cottone will contact seven senior groups and survey nonmembers to map needs and size of the senior population, estimated at 3 000 to 5 000.
Four high school basketball reports missed yesterday due to a printing plant computer breakdown. Stories from News Texas Inc. sister papers substituted, and the Daily News will publish the local items in today’s edition.
The Chamber of Commerce hosts a 9 30 a m Christmas parade from Richardson High School down Main Street to Richardson Heights Shopping Center. Wayne Mayo says more floats and four RISD high school bands join, with Dr J J Pearce as parade master and Santa Claus riding a sleigh.
The Texas State Department of Human Resources grants 30200 to North Central Texas Film Association enabling the Caring Program for early childhood education at Richardson Library. Nancy Beaver visited Richardson to review new materials with library staff and cited the Child Care Licensing Act requiring department assistance to facilities.
In a classroom response, Spring Creek Elementary students imagine trips to nations like Italy, Japan, and Ireland. Lisa Lockerd, a sixth grader, longs to visit Italy to see Michelangelo works and gondolas, while peers mention exploring foods, customs, and clothing of various countries.
