Dallas Civic Symphony issued auditions for string section openings and announced its first rehearsal for Wednesday August 30 at 7 30 p m in SMU Instrumental Rehearsal Hall Room H 104 Owen Arts Center Music director James Rives Jones said the orchestra of over 90 players includes SMU students and Dallas area musicians The first concert is October 9 in McFarlin Auditorium as part of SMU s Music of Our Century series featuring soprano Julianne Janes cellist Robert Marsh and the St Marks Boys Choir with works by Berg Shostakovich Debussy and Webern A Stravinsky program follows on December 4 with the Dallas Civic Chorus in McFarlin Auditorium and later concerts on March 5 and May 7 at Caruth Auditorium Audition calls can be made to Jones at 692 2923.
