Knife attack at Plano High leaves student in serious condition
Nicky Hall Taylor, senior at Plano High School, remained in serious condition after surgery at Presbyterian Hospital for a knife wound to the chin and abdomen received in a hallway altercation between 8 and 8:15 a.m. Friday. A 16-year-old black attacker was arrested on campus pursuit, as 10 to 12 students convened in a parking lot demanding to visit the hospital. Principal Barney Newton and Superintendent Wayne Hendrick supervised the students' departure after contacting parents.

Southwestern Bell hikes intrastate phone rates in Texas
Southwestern Bell announced a September 24 intrastate rate increase across Texas including Dallas to Houston and San Antonio to Waco. UTD to honor LBJ birthday with state holiday observance
The University of Texas at Dallas will observe the Texas state holiday in memory of Lyndon B. Johnson. Graduates register on August 30 and 31 at Berkner Hall for eight programs including chemistry and environmental sciences with master’s degrees available in all.
